Great Places to Visit

Now I would like to share some of our favorite places with you. We will keep adding to this so please keep checking in each time that you visit!

Nancy and I have a National Parks Bucket list. You know, there are a lot of National Parks out there to see. I think we should have started sooner! Of course, Lassen is our home park and we are so lucky to have it so close to us.

This last February we found a new favorite California State Park. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in eastern San Diego County is a must visit. Even though it is in Southern California it is not crowded at all and the landscape and night views of the sky are fantastic. Check out the really cool camp site in one pictures.

One of our favorite places to camp on the coast is Doran Beach at Bodega Bay. Bodega Bay is an easier drive than Ft. Bragg. There is always a breeze and it is great for kite flying. In the winter there are oysters for the BBQ and crab for the pot!

I have found another place to stay in Bodega Bay I would like to share with you. Porta Bodega RV Park has been reworked and is the only place that has a water view and full hookups.  Marina or harbor views are available.

When we travel, we also like to fly fish a bit. here are a few pictures taken close by on the Sacramento and Yuba Rivers. You will notice who has the bigger fish. Nancy always gets the big fish!

Gilberta our parts and service coordinator and her husband Bob picked out a few of their favorite camping photos to share.

Gilberta's favorite spot at Clear Lake to camp. They just back right up to the lake and take the Lance off.

Mount Konocti, the view out of Gilberta's camper door.

Birds at Gilberta's back door, Clear Lake.

One reason most people like to travel this way is because we can all take our pets. Here is Pearl, Gilberta's dog and Roadie, Bob's dog.

Looking northwest in the park.  Between the RVs and the railing is an area used used for jogging, walking and accessing the dog friendly beach.

Pleasure Point and Capitola Village in the distant back ground.  Pleasure Point and Capitola Village provide beautiful lights at night across the water.  Throw in a moon reflecting off the waves and you may want to stay up all night and just look at the beauty of it.  This is not private or remote camping, but it is ON the beach and spectacular!

Ty our customer, shared a couple of recent pictures from one of his favorite places in the back country with us.

Ty had to use his chainsaw multiple times to get to this remote spot.

In June we went to our grandsons high school graduation in Santa Cruz.  Not being a fan of motels we always take a camper or trailer.  What we have found is that Seacliff and most of the other state parks are hard to get reservations for because they are so popular.  They are also not very private and can be load at night.  About a year ago we found Moss Landing KOA Express.  It is one of the cleanest parks we go to.  It is small, 46 spaces is all there is and they are close to one another but the outside spaces are a little more private.  The management makes sure it is quiet early!  Centrally located on the Monterey Bay Coast between Santa Cruz and Monterey.  Walking distance to a public beach a dog beach and lots of good restaurants if you should not feel like cooking.

Nancy, our grandson and I recently went to the Olympic Track and Field Trails at the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.  While there we stayed at a Armitage County Park which happens to have an RV section.  Spacious with lots of greenery and the park backs up to the McKenzie River.  At $24 a night for full hook ups it was a great value.  For reservations if you have used the Oregon State park system the state and the county share data bases, they will know who you are and it is easy.

Gilberta, Bob and the dogs spent Thanksgiving at the KOA in Westport, CA. on the North Coast. They had a great time. When they arrived preparations were in full swing for a complete Thanksgiving dinner under a huge tent. The dinner was great with smoked turkey and the "works". For those of you who have not stayed at a KOA on a holiday weekend you need to know that many of them go to great lengths to provide wonderful dinners for the campers at no charge. It is usually a pot luck with the hosts cooking the main course. Moss Landing KOA does a super Easter dinner that I can attest to.
